The number of breast implants has increased across the country. Many women are having this elective procedure for a variety of reasons. Some elect to have breast implants as a reconstructive procedure while others choose this to enlarge ones own breast size. Reconstructive procedures are sometimes covered by health insurance companies, but most elective procedures are paid for by the patient. These can be financed or paid for in cash.
Regardless of how patients pay for this procedure, Beverly Hills patients can expect two different types of breast implant procedures. There are two primary types of breast implants and these are saline and silicone. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Saline implants are more natural and if a potential rupture should occur, the saline is absorbed into ones body with little side effects. Silicone implants that rupture can create infections if not treated properly.
Beverly Hills patients can expect two different types of breast implant procedures. One type of implant procedure is carried out through the armpit area. A small incision is made at the bottom of the armpit. Through this incision, the implant is inserted just above the chest cavity. The implant, either silicone or saline, is inserted underneath the chest muscle and placed directly in line with current breast tissue. The implant is then filled with the saline or silicone.
This type breast implant procedure offers several benefits for patients. First, the incision area is small and in an unseen area. As time goes by, the scar in the armpit tends to lessen and blend into the skin and is virtually invisible. Another benefit to having the implant placed under the current breast tissue is that the top of the new breast feels and looks more realistic.
Beverly Hills patients can also expect another type of breast implant procedure. This procedure makes an incision around the areola of the breast. The areola is actually removed and the breast implant placed inside. The implant is then filled with the appropriate material and the areola is reattached to the breast.
This type of procedure offers other benefits. First, the cosmetic surgeon is able to manipulate the implant better because the breast is exposed. This may indicate a more natural looking breast. Additionally, the scar under the areola incision is invisible because it blends in with the color of the areola.
These are two types of breast implant procedures Beverly Hills patients may experience. As with anything, there are advantages and disadvantages to both surgeries and the decision is a matter of personal preference but should be discussed with ones doctor.
